Our Mission
The Mission of Beaufort: A Journey Through Horology
Watches are more than just instruments of timekeeping—they are miniature worlds of craftsmanship, design, and engineering, each telling a story of its own. For me, Beaufort is not just a watch brand. It is my ongoing journey through horology, a constantly evolving pursuit of design and mechanical complexity. Every watch I create is a reflection of where I am in that journey, pushing the limits of what Beaufort’s design language can become while staying true to an ethos of accessibility.
A Brand Rooted in Exploration
Beaufort was born out of an obsession with watches, but more than that, it was built on a deep curiosity—one that has driven me to experiment with design, challenge my own ideas, and refine aesthetic sensibilities. Rather than following a singular, fixed identity, Beaufort thrives on evolution. Each new model isn’t just a continuation of what came before but a step forward, a new chapter in my personal and professional growth as a watch designer.
I don’t view watch design as a static discipline but as an exploration—one that draws inspiration from history, function, and my own evolving taste. This philosophy is why Beaufort’s collections, from the Aerotimer to the Fiordland, each feel distinct yet interconnected. They are bound not by a rigid set of rules but by an ethos: a commitment to refinement, mechanical intrigue, and pushing the boundaries of what a microbrand can create.
Pushing Design Boundaries Within Reach
My aim when it comes to designing watches is for it to be exciting and aspirational, but also attainable. That’s why Beaufort operates within an affordable price bracket while still delivering watches that feel intriguing, beautiful to look at, and meticulously crafted. It’s about striking that balance—creating something that feels special and thought-provoking without becoming unattainable.
Part of this mission involves delving deeper into more complex movements, case constructions, and finishing techniques while remaining conscious of cost. I’m fascinated by the challenge of constructing watches that offer more—whether it’s a mechanical chronograph like the Pulsatimer or the true GMT functionality of the Fiordland—without sacrificing accessibility. This pursuit isn’t just about making watches; it’s about giving enthusiasts like us an avenue to further explore the rabbit hole of horology through pieces that feel meaningful.
An Ever-Evolving Design Language
There is no single "Beaufort look" that I rigidly adhere to. Instead, I see the brand’s aesthetic as an evolving conversation between past inspirations and new ideas. The Seatrekker, for example, was inspired by 1970s Super Compressor dive watches but reinterpreted with a modern, functional approach. The Pulsatimer pays homage to vintage medical chronographs but redefines the concept with brutalist inspiration, contemporary proportions and a mechanical manual-wind movement.
Each watch represents a different phase of my design evolution. With each new release, I aim to refine my approach, explore new niches, and experiment with different case forms, dial constructions, and movement complications. This journey isn’t about repeating what’s worked before—it’s about discovering what comes next.
Satiating the Watch Enthusiast’s Fascination
I know firsthand the obsession that comes with delving into the watch scene—the endless pursuit of something new, something mechanically intriguing, something that resonates on a deeper level. Beaufort exists to fuel that obsession, to offer pieces that capture the excitement of discovery while remaining within reach.
I want Beaufort to be a brand that delights and surprises, where every release offers something fresh to engage with—whether it’s a unique design execution, a novel movement choice, or a reinterpretation of a historical reference with a modern twist. My goal is to create watches that not only stand out aesthetically but also invite deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and thought that goes into them.
Looking Ahead
As I continue to push Beaufort forward, my focus remains on refinement, complexity, and storytelling through design. I want to explore more intricate movements, experiment with finishing techniques that elevate each piece, and ensure that Beaufort watches continue to be a reflection of my own growth as a designer and watch enthusiast.
Beaufort is not just a brand—it is an evolving exploration of a personal journey in horology, one that invites collectors along for the ride. Whether you’ve been following Beaufort since the beginning or have just discovered it, I hope that each watch offers something new to appreciate and connect with.
This journey is far from over. The next chapter is already being written.
